Arowana

Arowana which means fish of paradise, are freshwater fish and are in the Osteoglossidae family also known as bonytongues. The Arowana is a facultative air breather and can obtain oxygen from air by sucking it into its swim bladder, which is lined with capillaries like lung tissue. There are 10 types of Arowanas that are commonly kept as pets. They come from all over the world including South America, Africa, Australia and more.
The Asian Arowana is a popular aquarium fish and has special cultural significance in areas influenced by Chinese culture. The name 'dragonfish' is from their resemblance to the Chinese dragon.

THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU PURCHASE AN AROWANA
They are excellent JUMPERS! You will need a lid on your aquarium. We recommend a lid on any aquarium no matter what type of fish but definitely with these guys.
These are solitary fish, they are known for aggression and dominance.
Some Compatible tank mates are pacu, green terror, gar, jaguar cichlid, Oscars and a few others as long as they don’t fit in the Arowanas mouth.
These fish normally out grow their tank within 8-12 months.
WE RECOMMEND ONLY PURCHASING AN AROWANA IF YOU HAVE AT LEAST A 150 GALLON TANK, while tanks from 400 - 600 are recommended.
